About two months ago, I made an important business decision to change banks. I used to bank with our community credit union but felt it was time to move my business to a more established bank which has many locations. Let’s just say the convenience factor of having a branch close by, no matter where you are, made sense.
I recently visited this more “established” bank and I was caught off guard when the Account Officer who assisted me when I opened my account welcomed me by name. What could have been his secret for remembering my face and name, when I guess he has talked a few hundred people in the past month or two? After some time of talking to him I could no longer contain my curiosity and I had to ask him if he was blessed with a photographic memory. Well, no such luck. He reminded me that I gave him my business card with my photo on it. I guess I cheated a bit by having my personal photo on the business card, but this concept works the same, though not as effective, if you have a business card that is very pictographic. You want your prospective customer to associate the card with your business, or even better as I explained above, associate your business with your face.
So there, that was a clear example of how a well designed business card can instantly make you recognizable and consequently boost your business. Knowing now that a business card can be a powerful tool to promote your business, you should consider having business cards with photos because it will definitely help prospective clients put a face to a name rather than looking at a name on a business card.
In the good old days, folks who were in business knew all their clients by name and even the story of their lives and vice versa; and business owners who took time to know their client’s names fared much better during slow economic times, as we are experiencing now. However, in today’s world, where day rushes into night, the ever busy businessman will have no time to spare to patiently remember each client who drops by his shop and conversely the client to remember all the people who had something to offer them. This is where business cards with photos can come to the rescue because your potential clients will feel as if they know you, thus creating a primary business relationship.
As earlier stated, we are not in the best business environment today and businesses are in a quandary as to how they can get ahead of the competition in getting to that last customer. Putting a little personal touch to our business dealings can spell a big difference and you can start this by using business cards with photos which puts you several degrees above a faceless business card.
